Strut Your Mutt

We strutted and for a great cause! Best Friends Animal Society’s Strut Your Mutt, an annual fundraising event, is a series of charity walks that bring entire communities together to raise money toward saving the lives of homeless pets. This year’s New York City strut took place on October 7th at Hudson River Park’s Pier 26. There were almost 2,500 participants, 1,700 dogs, and the event raised nearly $455,000 (and counting)!

Those who take part can choose to support and raise funds for Best Friends or their favorite local participating animal welfare organization. This year, we walked with team Animal Lighthouse Rescue, and together we raised over $18,000 that will go toward repairing their shelter in Puerto Rico and saving more lives! So proud of our team and all the wonderful people and organizations across the city that came together to support this lifesaving event.

In addition to the charity walk, Strut Your Mutt is a fun-filled festival where four- and two-legged participants of all ages can take part in activities like doggie yoga, pet portraits, agility courses, music, contests and more. New to the event this year was the adoption component. Dozens of animals displaced from Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria were at the event from participating rescue organizations, including Louie’s Legacy Animal Rescue, Posh Pets Rescue and The Sato Project.

Truly a spectacular day! Special thanks to Camp Canine for putting our team together, and to everyone who took part in this lifesaving event! Together, we can Save Them All!
